Clifton is located in the Grand Valley, near the junction of the Colorado and Gunnison rivers on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. Grand Junction is the largest city in the Grand Valley, at an elevation of 4,586 feet above sea level. The Valley is surrounded on all sides by mountains as high as 12,000 feet. The unique landscape and high-desert climate in the Clifton area provide for a variety of outdoor recreation activities, from alpine skiing to mountain biking, and fishing to rock climbing. Grand Junction also hosts several community and cultural events throughout the year including the Junior College Baseball World Series and the Grand Junction Symphony. For those interested in fine wines the area also boasts several vineyards in the valley.
