Montrose, Colo. — Customers and drivers may have noticed rearranging and remodeling happening at Murdoch's Ranch and Home Supply. "Montrose is growing and so is this type of business," assistant manager Danene Barberousse said.
The business started renovations in August, adding 2,300 square feet to the southeast corner. The new added floor space houses the dog food and other feed supplies. Barberousse said before they were using the space for feed storage, but now they save time by not having to stock twice.
Currently, local contractors are working on the front of the building, pushing it west 16 feet for a new entrance. The construction started in September and the extra room will be used to house the new line of fireplaces and stoves, along with other merchandise. By the time construction is complete the building will be 36,000 square feet.
Barberousse said they expect the new entrance to be open Oct. 1, but until then, they are using the door on the south side as an entrance.
She said customers will also see changes in the parking lot. They moved the fence yard that blocked off the east view of Townsend Avenue to the north and south sides of the parking lot.
She said the business is expanding to make it stronger. The renovations have been in the plans for a couple of years, but the Montrose location at 2151 S. Townsend Ave. was put on hold because of new buildings going up elsewhere. Barberousse said there are 14 Murdoch's stores throughout Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and Montana.
She said the Montrose location is the only type of business with vet and tack supply in the area.
