This small town located on the lower Yellowstone River hasn’t changed much over the years—it’s still a classic western town. The town’s biggest event is the annual Bucking Horse Sale, which is a combination of rodeo, horse race, and no-holds-barred town-wide party. There are also a number of events and historic sites dedicated to the Lewis & Clark Expedition, who traveled up the Yellowstone River (which flows by the edge of town). Today the population is around 8,500 people, and ranching is still the main way of making a living here.
