Murdochs.com stands behind all of its products. We guarantee our merchandise to be free of manufacturing defects and will accept any defective item for refund or exchange.

In-Store Returns & Exchanges

Returned items must be in resalable condition. When returning clothing or boots, please include all original tags. For an item to be returned, it must be in like-new condition, free from any external debris, wear marks, and/or stains. For Fire Resistant products, all original tags must be attached in order to return/exchange, no exceptions will be made.

With A Receipt

Items returned that are accompanied by a receipt will be refunded at the original purchase price, to the original payment method, plus applicable sales taxes. If the return is over $200 and was originally paid for with a check or cash, a check will be mailed from our Home Office for the full amount of the refund as stated above. There will be a 10-day waiting period to verify funds from the original check prior to a check from the Home Office being mailed, or a cash return being issued at the register. Without the original bank card present, we will issue a gift card in the full amount of the refund as stated above.

Without A Receipt

Items returned without a receipt will be processed at the lowest sale price, plus applicable sales tax. Such items may be exchanged for the same product, or returned for merchandise credit in the form of a Murdoch’s gift card, which cannot be traded for cash.

Tree and Shrub Guarantee

Murdochs guarantees all trees and shrubs against mortality caused by disease or winter kill for one year. We do not cover plants destroyed by insects animals weed eaters or by neglect of the consumer. Refunds for the purchase amount will be issued upon the return of the plant to our Garden Center inspection and approval of all returns by our Garden Center Supervisor and this receipt. Roses perennials and annuals are not covered under this guarantee.

Murdochs.com orders can be returned within 60 days of the shipping date for a full refund as long as the items haven't been used. *Some restrictions apply.

We recommend you try all clothing on before removing tags and/or washing the garment. For footwear, please try shoes on and walk on carpeted surfaces only to avoid scuffing. For Fire-Resistant products, all original tags must be attached in order to return, no exceptions will be made. 

To return items in your order, you can initiate a return by contacting our Customer Service team at 855-232-9104, Mon-Sat 8AM-5PM, Sun 9AM-5PM (MST/MDT), excluding holidays.

There is a flat fee of $15.00 for using the pre-addressed, return shipping label we provide through our return process. After your return is accepted, we'll refund your original payment method less the return shipping fee.

Murdochs.com Exchanges

At this time, we cannot directly exchange items. If you are looking to exchange an item you’ve purchased online, you will need to call our Customer Service department. You will return the item, then place a new order for the exchange. Exchange orders receive free shipping, and you will receive a full refund for the return minus return shipping charges once we receive the item.

Guidelines & Restrictions

Our standard return policy does not apply to the following items, which may not be returned:

  • Ammunition, firearms, gunpowder, primers, unprimed brass, and select targets
  • Vaccines
  • Refrigerated items
  • Live animals
  • Any items cut to length at a customer's request
  • Gift Cards
  • Consumables for animals and humans

The Following May Be Returned As Long As The Following Criteria Is Met

Suspension of Returns for Generators & Chainsaws Effective March 19, 2020

Gasoline-engine powered items may be returned within 60 days of purchase with the original sales receipt. The item must be returned in its original packaging and with all accompanying manuals and accessories. All fluids (gas and oil) must be drained out of the engine before being returned to us. After 60 days, you will need to return these items directly to the manufacturer, under the manufacturer's warranty.

Gasoline engine-powered items include: lawnmowers, mowers, trimmers, and log splitters.

Returns on all generators and chainsaws are suspended effective 3/19/2020 and until further notice.

Purchases on or after this effective date will not be eligible for return or exchange. This policy enables us to maintain a stable stock of these essential items to supply as many customers as possible when they need them. This policy does not apply to purchases made before 3/19/2020 or to returns for defects (see details above).

How do I return a product?

Can I return a product I purchased online to a Murdoch’s store?

Yes, orders placed on Murdochs.com can be returned online or at any of our retail locations. Please see our Return Policy or more information.

Can I cancel an order before receiving it?

Once an order routes to a store for fulfillment, it cannot be canceled in our system. Please contact customer service to discuss your options.

Can I exchange an item I purchased for an item of the same price?

Unfortunately, we are not able to do direct exchanges. You will need to place a new order for the replacement item. If you would like assistance, please call our Customer Service team at 855-232-9104,Mon-Sat 8AM-5PM, Sun 9AM-5PM (MST/MDT), excluding holidays.

Can you refund to a gift card?

Refunds are issued via their original method of payment. Therefore, if your order was originally placed with a gift card, we will issue your refund via a new eGift card.

Can I return an item I purchased in a store to Murdochs.com?

No, our online store is not able to accept returns made in one of our retail locations. Please contact the store you originally purchased the item from to discuss your return options.

How much do you charge to return an order placed online?

If you initiate a return via Customer Service, a $15 fee will be deducted from your return for the cost of a return shipping label. You can also return your items by choosing your own shipping method.
