For nearly 20 years Montana State University and the University of Montana have held a friendly food-drive competition. The competition is a shared opportunity for fans to show school spirit while giving back to their communities.
The event is held during the two weeks leading up to the annual Cat/Griz football game, held this year in Missoula at the Washington-Grizzly Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 20.
Let’s go Griz and Cat fans! Show your school spirit this Nov. 5 – 20 by donating nonperishable food items at designated food collection sites at the local Murdoch’s in Bozeman, Four Corners, Missoula, and Hamilton. All donations benefit the local food banks.
Murdoch’s supports the food drive by matching $1 for each pound of food donated, up to $1,000 for each team (MSU and UM).
Where does the food go?
Food collected in Missoula goes to the Missoula Food Bank and donations collected in Hamilton to the Haven House in Hamilton. The $1,000 Missoula/Hamilton match from Murdoch’s is split between the two food banks, based on the percentage of total weight donated.
Food collected in Bozeman and Four Corners goes to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, which receives the Murdoch’s match based on total weight donated.
Go Cats! Go Griz!
