ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

Description

'Grandpa Ott's' is an exquisite, dependable bloomer. This vigorous vine with gorgeous flowers and beautiful heart-shaped leaves will cover fences and trellises, trail on the ground, or hang from large baskets or containers. May self-sow. Caution: Most parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested.

Features

  • An old-fashioned variety in royal purple to brighten the garden. Brought to America from Bavaria in the 1870s.
  • Perennial in USDA zones 10 and warmer; usually grown as an annual
  • When to sow inside, 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting outside. Sow into a biodegradable pot that can be directly planted in the ground to avoid disturbing roots.
  • 15 days to emerge
  • Space a group of 3 seeds every 6"-12"
  • When to sow outside, recommended 1 to 2 weeks after your average last frost date. Plants started too early outside will end up less vigorous than plants started when warmer.
