Description

Scratch and Peck Feeds Cluckin’ Good Poultry Grit is available in three convenient sizes – Chick, Grower, and Layer. We recommend Chick Grit from hatching to 8 weeks, with our Grower Grit being the appropriate size from 8 weeks to 20 weeks, and Layer Grit for all laying hens. Broilers should switch directly from the Chick Grit to the Layer Grit at 4 weeks of age. A required feeding supplement, Cluckin’ Good Poultry Grit is necessary for the healthy development of a chicken’s gizzard. The gizzard aids in digestion, and allows for maximum nutrient benefits from poultry feed. Made up of insoluble crushed quartzite or granite, grit remains in the bird’s gizzard to help with digestion. Grit is an essential part of your bird’s diet and should always be provided, especially if there is no access to small rocks. If you have bantams or smaller hens, our Cluckin’ Good Layer Grit may be too large for their size, so you may want to continue to provide them with Cluckin’ Good Grower Grit.

  • Baby chicks can mistake grit for feed with damaging results. Help them establish correct feeding habits by sprinkling grit over their feed mash for the first week or two and then offer it free choice in a separate container
  • For use with poultry less than approximately 8 weeks old. Offering the appropriate sized grit allows for the maximum nutrient benefit from whole grain feeds and more.
