Yay for Heroes! K-9 Flash went form a puppy wandering the streets alone to scoring 100 on her law enforcement tests. K-9 Flash is a hero's hero. After serving nearly a decade with the Yakima Police Department, Flash deployed more than 3,000 times and made 2,200 narcotic-related finds and seizures. She retired in 2013 and spent the rest of her life with her handler, Jason Johnson- the founder of Project K-9 Hero, celebrating her as the inspiration for the organization's founding. Her heroic efforts earned her 2018 Dog of the Year and not one but two children's books detailing her inspiring story. Project K-9 Hero is a national nonprofit 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide medical care, food & death benefit assistance for our nation's retired Police K-9s and Military Working Dogs. Project K-9 Hero also helps K-9s who need a home after service through rehabilitation and adoption. Project K-9 Hero dedicates itself to "Protecting Those Who Protected Us" by spreading awareness & educating the public.
